Charming Handicraft with Retro Sentiment

The weather is almost coming at the end of summer. I am already knocking on the door of Autumn and preparing for a colorful festival in my mind. My anticipation for the new season made me indulge in charming crafts such as crochet slippers, hair bows, felt baskets, rattan trays, and fabric key-rings ahead of Autumn. The handmade process with retro sentiment brings tranquil and meditative moments to digital life. Whatever I put my effort into with sheer passion would be valuable for me, as if people would look for luxury brand stuff to satisfy themselves.

Illustration - "A Girl on The Moon"

I illustrated a girl in a tranquil moment on the moon with a trustworthy companion. A girl is growing a star tree with a sincere heart. Her space fills in colors and twinkling stars in peace.

Fabric Key-rings (charm) - Ballerina Torso and Butterfly

A ballerina and a butterfly represent passion with pure heart. I often come across a theme of a ballerina and a butterfly. This time, I made a key ring and a charm made of fabric.

Felt Storage Baskets

I made storage baskets with felt fabric. Felt baskets have a warm texture in vivid colors.

Crochet Slippers

I always wear slippers at home. So, I made crochet sippers with thick purple yarn for the Autumn and Winter. Crochet slippers are durable and give me a comfy feeling. It will warm my feet during the chilly season. Frankly, it is so good for me to wear. (I referred to the crochet tutorial on the YouTube channel.)

In the photo below, the cushion printed with my artwork, a handmade bag and a fabric flower basket I made, and a sample book-'storytime' I wrote & illustrated & designed.

Hair-bows and Accessories

I made hair-bows to wear in the chilly season since I have long hair. In the photo below, I displayed some silver earrings and necklaces, gemstone earrings, and a black pearl necklace I designed and made. Ironically, I don't enjoy wearing jewelry except earrings. So, I stopped jewelry making.

Rattan Trays

For the first time, I made trays with rattan wicks. I enjoyed working on the rattan weaving. Rattan gives a warm and retro feeling to it. I have plans to make a storage bowl and an Italy basket. (I referred to the rattan tutorial on the YouTube channel.)

Korean Thanksgiving is coming soon. I will cook hard to make several traditional dishes. "enjoy moments of days!"

Summer Feeling in Art & Fashion Craft

It’s such a sultry and humid summer. The news often reports on disasters caused by global warming in different parts of the world. It makes me wonder whether AI will be able to help humans predict and prevent such catastrophes in the near future. Humanity must find solutions to address climate change, otherwise, things will only get worse. Meanwhile, serious corruption scandals and conspiracies involving the former Korean president and his wife are coming to light through a special investigation. The supporters of the former president and the current conservative party are mostly high-value tax evaders, corrupt business-people, or, most strikingly, religious followers brainwashed by cult leaders. I was shocked to realize how deeply cult members have infiltrated different parts of society, manipulating people's minds. Despite being in prison, the former president, Yoon is reportedly still receiving various secret privileges. Fortunately, the current president, Lee is doing a good ...

Mind Journal with Winter Sentiment

It is already December. I wish the pure side of the mind blooms with the hope of being ready to start a new chapter of life. This winter seems colder than ever because the pure joy of winter sentiment is interrupted by my anxiety about the Korean situation. The democratic system of Korea has become paralyzed under the corrupt regime. I would stand up for justice with sincere Korean citizens to make things right.  However, I strive to maintain my composure and hold onto the winter sentiment lingering in my mind. Apart from the anxiety in my mind, I reflected on the pure side through writing a novel, painting, and doing crafts. If I didn't have my artistic sensibility, I might have succumbed to anxiety over the situation happening in Korea. Acrylic Abstract Painting – “Homey Place” Although it may not have a specific form, colors gradually fill my mind, allowing me to envision a tranquil place. My homey place has flowers, trees, a blue lake, and a red roof. Imagining such a hom...

At the Entrance of Springtime

I look forward to seeing the chilly weather gradually yield to the vibrant greens of spring, as a timid spring breeze makes its debut at the season’s entrance. I imagine a girl holding a balloon, floating freely in the boundless blue sky. With the early bloom of spring, my imagination begins to take root, and I feel ready to immerse myself in a creative oasis. Like waking from hibernation, I stretch my creativity, embracing the invigorating spirit of spring.  Although societal phenomena often provoke negative emotions in me, a pure part of my mind continues to envision a colorful, imaginary world. The wonderland I create through art, crafts, and storytelling serves as a sanctuary, cleansing the dusty corners of my mind from negativity. This creative process allows the positive and untainted parts of myself to rise above the shadows of negativity. Particularly, the journey of writing a novel offers a space for reflection and personal growth. I find that these creative pursuits kee...
