Summer Feeling in Art & Fashion Craft

It’s such a sultry and humid summer. The news often reports on disasters caused by global warming in different parts of the world. It makes me wonder whether AI will be able to help humans predict and prevent such catastrophes in the near future. Humanity must find solutions to address climate change, otherwise, things will only get worse. Meanwhile, serious corruption scandals and conspiracies involving the former Korean president and his wife are coming to light through a special investigation. The supporters of the former president and the current conservative party are mostly high-value tax evaders, corrupt business-people, or, most strikingly, religious followers brainwashed by cult leaders. I was shocked to realize how deeply cult members have infiltrated different parts of society, manipulating people's minds. Despite being in prison, the former president, Yoon is reportedly still receiving various secret privileges. Fortunately, the current president, Lee is doing a good ...

At the Entrance of Springtime

I look forward to seeing the chilly weather gradually yield to the vibrant greens of spring, as a timid spring breeze makes its debut at the season’s entrance. I imagine a girl holding a balloon, floating freely in the boundless blue sky. With the early bloom of spring, my imagination begins to take root, and I feel ready to immerse myself in a creative oasis. Like waking from hibernation, I stretch my creativity, embracing the invigorating spirit of spring.  Although societal phenomena often provoke negative emotions in me, a pure part of my mind continues to envision a colorful, imaginary world. The wonderland I create through art, crafts, and storytelling serves as a sanctuary, cleansing the dusty corners of my mind from negativity. This creative process allows the positive and untainted parts of myself to rise above the shadows of negativity. Particularly, the journey of writing a novel offers a space for reflection and personal growth. I find that these creative pursuits kee...

Mind Journal with Winter Sentiment

It is already December. I wish the pure side of the mind blooms with the hope of being ready to start a new chapter of life. This winter seems colder than ever because the pure joy of winter sentiment is interrupted by my anxiety about the Korean situation. The democratic system of Korea has become paralyzed under the corrupt regime. I would stand up for justice with sincere Korean citizens to make things right.  However, I strive to maintain my composure and hold onto the winter sentiment lingering in my mind. Apart from the anxiety in my mind, I reflected on the pure side through writing a novel, painting, and doing crafts. If I didn't have my artistic sensibility, I might have succumbed to anxiety over the situation happening in Korea. Acrylic Abstract Painting – “Homey Place” Although it may not have a specific form, colors gradually fill my mind, allowing me to envision a tranquil place. My homey place has flowers, trees, a blue lake, and a red roof. Imagining such a hom...

Goodbye With Emotional Feeling in Winter

It is already the end of the year. I was supposed to design the memo papers for the new resolution and gratitude & regret. But this month came to me with mixed emotions and swirled my mind. But I overcame it. And I am ready to embrace the new year with a fresh mind as usual. I want to share two illustrations to express my sentiment for this month. People would expect the festival mood around this time, but it is what I came across for this month. Happy New Year!

Another Shape of Luck and Social Issues

S ummer fruits quench my thirst. Juicy fruits like a sweet watermelon cool me down in hot and sultry summer. P.S.: I designed a sky-blue scarf, a tumbler, and illustration cards in the photo below. I want to share my thoughts on social issues. These issues have not only happened to my country. It is an ongoing worldly matter, too. Before that, I express some aspects of true luck in my illustration of 'a four-leaf clover'. Four-leaf clover I illustrated a four-leaf clover that represents the inner aspect of luck. People in this period are used to seeking luck from external factors with wealth, success, and fame. But I approach another point of view on luck. In my illustration, I express some patterns of luck from wisdom, hope, faith, and passion, laying on strength, flow, rising, and sincerity. Tears of wise people will shine like jewels at the end with their luck.  Wisdom: Solving problems by putting shattered pieces (distraction) together in life.   Faith: Righteous faith l...

Artsy Summertime in July

The sultry and humid weather makes me almost pooped out. But I pull myself up together not to be dragged by a negative emotional state. I always remind me of good phrases that help me flow in the lake like a swan in my mind.  “Rejoice always; give thanks to all circumstances.” - from the bible  “Happiness depends on what you think.” - from unknown  My happiness stays in organized life and a mental attitude pursuing simplicity and creativity. My disposition is not to waste my energy on useless things such as grudges, hatred, obsession, revenge, or sticking to negative moments of the past. Although I have those moments, soon, I emerge from those negative things that can consume my spirit. Luckily, I have a pure side that boosts my energy; and my organized lifestyle is helpful for me to move on with a bright mindset. Here are the art and craft I would like to share for this month; a lovely handmade doll in a frame, designs of washi tapes and black and white tote bags, and di...

Imaginary Journey

I saw the CNN news report on June.19 that Scientists disclosed the climate index. Global temperature has risen to the highest level. Consequently, the size of the Antarctic ice has reduced to the lowest in history. Countries confront abnormal weather conditions and catastrophes all over. On top of all, I am worried as one of the Korean citizens about discharging contaminated water from Fukushima, Japan. Contaminated water will harm marine life, and I am afraid to eat seafood. Hmm..., Just sigh. Trying to put these concerns behind me for a moment, I would consider how to spend July and August efficiently since I am so sensitive to the sultry summer. One of my projects this sultry summer is composing a novel of a different genre and subject from my previous works. Although the concept, outlines, and synopsis is already in my mind, making a detailed storyline, appropriate choices of words, and smooth paragraphs takes time. The voice in my mind keeps pushing me to do it continuously and ov...

The Scent of May with Green Tea

When I was young, I couldn’t understand why adult people said that May was a queen of seasons. May was just May when I was in childhood. My sensibility response has developed as I have become older. The scent of May knocks on my heart and inspires me in colors. Flowers are blooming with vivid colors of their own. Leaves on trees radiate deep green shades in abundance. Even faded plants have healthy colors and bear brilliant flowers. The best month for re-potting plants is the month of May. The weather is the most enjoyable. My attitude is gentle toward the nature of life I observe. I try capturing colors and scents the season brings. And I see how the best season inspires me. Here are my illustrations, tote bag design, expression in verses for May, and photos of wild flowers I took in May. Teatime Teatime after lunch is a valuable time to soothe my nerves. I rearrange my thoughts, plans, and motivations in me-time with green tea. The delicate fragrance of green tea makes me contemplate...
